Like A Spider Dream

Since he was just barely walking, Wilson has had this cute little quirk where after his bath, before you put his jammies on, he tucks his elbows into his sides and rubs his arms back and forth. We've always called it rowing his boat. He started doing it tonight and added a little musical accompaniment to it :

"Row, row, row your boat

gently down the stream.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily

We've been singing that song for 3-1/2 years now and I just found out he thinks the words are "like a spider dream"! He also sings "Lightning McQueen" (aka- Life is a Highway- the Rascal Flatts version) at the top of his lungs and it's re-written lyrics are a hoot. For example ". . . a roads a road- 'EES I MO' . . ." (it should be "this I know" for those of you who are having to sing the song from the beginning to get to that part to figure out what he's trying to say). He's long had a love of music and has always picked up quickly on lyrics. His very first was when he was just a little over a year. I started hearing him in the backseat making a repetitive sound- "sa-ight, sa-ight, sa-ight". I finally payed attention. He was making the sound when the Bon Jovi song "Who Says You Can't Go Home" would come on. The chorus repeats "It's alright, It's alright, It's alright." Look out American Idol!
On the Miller front, she seems about the same. Not fussy at all but very congested and very sleepy. Tonight after she had slept in her swing while we ate supper, I cleaned up the kitchen, folded the laundry, and got Wilson started on his bath, I went and got her out. She has slept through her nightly routine for 2 or 3 nights now meaning she has not had her reflux medicine or a bath. I carried her upstairs (talking to her the whole time trying to wake her up), undressed her, and put her in her tub. She woke up a little and smiled during her bath and then fussed a little when she had to get out and was cold while I dressed her. After I got her diaper and gown on, she started acting sleepy again. So, I handed her her pink puppy and paci and SHE FELL ASLEEP ON THE CHANGING TABLE. I strapped her on, went and finished Wilson's bath, brushed teeth, rowed the boat, put on jammies, read books, prayed, went back in her room and she was still out cold. So, I moved her to her bed without so much as a stretch of the arm or squint of the eye and there she still lays. She has not eaten since about 4:30. Be looking for a new blog look again if I have to get up 3!! Good Night.
I'll . . . just . . .

sleep . . . here. Yeah, here's good.

New Look

Well, this is the product of my brain at 3 am. Since Miller has been sick she's been falling asleep really early in the evening and I don't have the heart to wake her up to feed her. I normally use this time to read a magazine, watch TV, or sew or blog or something. Last night I used it to sleep. So when she finally woke up at 2am to eat supper, my body thought, "what a great nap" and couldn't go back to sleep. Don't know why, but this seemed like a good project for the time frame! We'll give it a few days and see how it works.

Quick question for all you avian aficionados out there- why would a wood pecker try more than ONCE to bore a hole in a metal gutter? Needless to say, new chapter in the ever growing wildlife journal of our new home . . .

Wilson and his millipede
Miller and her bugs (in the form of a yucky cold & ear infection). She fell asleep in her swing at 4:30 yesterday afternoon and did not wake up until 1:00 this morning. She ate and went back to sleep in her swing until 6:ish. She still as sweet as ever, just sleepy (and snotty).

Being Sick Is No Excuse

You still have to look cute & accessorise- please see photos of Miller for reference . . .

Thanks for the New Kicks, Aunt Ash!

My Aunt Ashley sent me these cool shoes when I was born. They're still just a little big, but way too cute to sit on the shelf any longer. You can't see him in the picture below, but my stuffed sheep that hangs on my crib is telling me jokes and cracking me up!

These shoes are so comfy, I decided to take a nap in them!

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin' . . .

This is how Mom left me for my nap . . .
. . . but I decided I like this view better,
this is how I was when she came to get me when I woke up!

Quarter of Year!

Happy three months (and a week) to our sweet baby girl, Miller. Poor second child- I'm a week late making her month b'day video (I thought about it on the 7th, but we were having a rough day) and then when I finally made it I got the info wrong. For those of you keeping a calendar, she was not baptised this month as I say she was on the video. It was actually just days before she turned 2 months old, and thus should have been included in lasts months video, but wasn't. Oh well, baby girl, we really do love you, I'm just not as good at documenting it!!

She is videoed in the gown she wore home from the hospital- look how much she's grown!

2 days old and ready to go home

What can I say, two peas in a pod. Wilson has always liked his sister, but lately he has just really been head over heels for her. He wants her with him all the time. I put her in her stroller a good bit when I'm working around the house so she can see what's going on. Sometimes, I'll get busy and realize the stroller is no longer with me. Wilson will have come and gotten Millie to watch TV with him. In the first picture they are watching Toy Story 2. She actually sat and watched it. I didn't hear a peep out of either of them for over half an hour! He also wants to sit and keep her company while she watches one of her movies (Baby Einstein). The next two pictures are from this morning. She was laying on the floor of the playroom after I'd changed her diaper. He asked if he could hold her and when I said yes, he went to pick her up before I could even get in there to help him. As soon as he put his hands on her he realized she's much too heavy for him to pick up and decided instead to get settled on his bean bag chair. As I was handing her to him he asked if I'd like to take their picture. Ever the eager paparazzi, I quickly accepted the rare invitation for a photo shoot and grabbed my camera. What a couple of hams in their jammies! I just got them to bed and she had a bit of trouble getting settled. One of the times that I went in to check on her she'd thrown up- I think I overfed her in an effort to get a few more quiet hours, oops!! Wilson called from his room asking what I was doing. When I told him she'd gotten sick and I was cleaning her up, he asked if he could help. What a sweety! This really is a sweet (and I'm guessing rare & fleeting)time in their sibling relationship. She of course is completely receiving at this point and he is still so innocent that he has not yet realized that your "supposed" to not like your little sister so much and your "supposed" to make trouble with/for siblings! I'm guessing that will change in about 4 months when she starts grabbing everything in sight and crushing Lego towers. But we'll enjoy it while it lasts. Have a great week!

Maybe she looks like her Mamma

This is Miller with her great-grandmother, Nan, and me with my great-grandmother, Nan's mamma.

Happy Birthday, Nan!

Fancy Pants

Miller is showing off her, oh so cute, coat and ruffly bonnet that her Pat Pat gave her at my baby shower. She wore them Sunday- although, it was not that cold I was worried we'd never get to wear them if we didn't then when it was just a touch chilly. The coat is reversible- it's pink knit on one side and says "hug me"; it's yellow fleece on the other and says "don't bug me". The flower hangs loose over the buttons & reverses as well with a lady bug embroidered on it. The dress and shoes were mine when I was a baby.

She's also showing off one of her latest skills, thumb sucking. The other newest discoveries are blowing bubbles and raising her arm way above her head when she's excited (see watching Baby Einstein, below, for a demonstration).

The Last Few Days

Miller Likes:

Watching Baby Einstein
Passing out on her changing table with Cobbler the kitty
Wearing Hawaiian clothes

Wilson Likes:

Holding his baby sister

Seeing how many grand kids a Granna can hold at one time

Taking one more picture before dark

Eating outside and blowing bubbles

Jack likes:

Catching the bubbles that we blow

Look A Likes?

Several people have said they think Miller looks like Wilson as a baby. Occasionally I see it, but not really. So here they are for a side by side comparison. Same age, same clothes, same chair. What do you think?
